Our Programs

Education

Early in the Fall Semester, TAMID applicants go through a competitive selection process. If selected, our newest members join an eight-week Education cohort. The three cohorts, Fund Education, Tech Education, and Consulting Education, each provide the newest class with the tools to become a successful member of TAMID. Through weekly competitions and projects, our Education members learn valuable business skills, culminating in a final consulting or investing project.

Our Consulting members provide pro-bono consulting services to Israeli start-up companies. Committed to meaningful experiential learning and quality service, our Consulting members perform market research and analysis, among a variety of other tasks, to offer thoughtful and informative business recommendations to emerging Israeli companies. Consulting members are able to cultivate strong relationships with the professionals at the start-up companies, as well as gain valuable skills that can be used in the ever-evolving entrepreneurial business world.

Fund

Our Fund members closely follow the stock market and manage TAMID at Maryland’s investment portfolio. At the end of each semester, members from the Fund give a stock pitch to help determine what new companies TAMID at Maryland will invest in. Thanks to the Fund members’ dedication and commitment, we have a growing investment portfolio of over $7,000, which includes stocks in Nike, Facebook, Starbucks and many more. This real investment experience gives our Fund members the skills they need to prepare for successful careers in finance.

Our newly admitted Tech members start with an Education Class, in which they partake in a course about Data Science. The course dives into Data Frames, Data Visualization, Databases, and Regressions. Upon completing the course, returning members will participate in Tech projects from startups in Israel. These projects will give members experience with experts in the field, and will give them glimpses of what they will do in the career. New members will be able to develop a professional connection with each other, the CEOs of the startups, and Israel itself through the Tech Track.

Fellowship

Every summer, members of TAMID at Maryland participate in the TAMID Israel Summer Fellowship. Our fellows spend eight weeks interning in Israel and exploring the country, while living and learning with other TAMID members from universities across the nation. TAMID at Maryland sends a large delegation of participants each summer, with 14 UMD fellows in 2019. Our members return from Israel with valuable skills, meaningful work experiences, new TAMID friends, and lasting memories.
