Events

Each semester, TAMID at Maryland hosts a variety of events, both internal and external, to engage our members in a range of educational, experiential, social and professional opportunities. Check out some of our events from the past few semesters!

DC Trek

In October of 2019, the TAMID at Maryland Chapter partnered with TAMID Chapters from the George Washington University, John Hopkins University and Georgetown University for our second ever DC Trek! Throughout the day members from every chapter visited Protiviti, Capital One, Fannie Mae and many more sites where we learned about company culture, internships available for us and had the opportunity to network with current employees. The Trek was a great day filled with exciting professional development, catching up with old TAMID friends and meeting so many new TAMID members!

Pro Panel

In November of 2019, we hosted our first ever TAMID at Maryland Pro Panel! Our panelists included Alex Pollack, Neville Brodie, Schaffer Ochstein, Anton Leontyev and Aaron Nadler. They shared insightful advice about how they leveraged their TAMID experiences to help them excel in their professional careers. With panelists ranging in fields from finance to real estate we learned about how widely applicable the skills we develop in TAMID are for our future careers. By the end of the event, members had a clear vision of how they can apply skills from TAMID in classes, internships and beyond.

Start-up nation tech fair

In March of 2019, TAMID at Maryland hosted the Start Up Nation Technology Fair! The Start Up Nation Tech Fair is an interactive technology pop up event, featuring representatives from a variety of Israeli startup companies. The event introduced ambitious, entrepreneurial University of Maryland students to the vibrant Israeli start-up culture. The event drew a wide array of UMD students, from computer science to history majors, as well as students and colleagues in the DMV area. A highlight of the evening for TAMID at Maryland students was meeting with the founder of Soapy, a start-up company for whom they consult!

The Smith Undergraduate Student Association (SUSA) awarded TAMID at Maryland with the SUSA Event of the Year Award for our Tech Fair!

New York Trek

In April of 2019, TAMID at Maryland hosted our first ever NYC Trek! About 16 of our members embarked on a weekend trip to NYC where we spent a day visiting various companies in different fields including Bloomerg, KPMG, Yelp, Ten-X, Ideas42, Goldman Sachs, and more. We met with many TAMID and Maryland alumni and it was a great networking and educational opportunity for our members. We also hosted a TAMID Networking Event in NYC, which allowed us to meet and collaborate with TAMID members and alumni from chapters all around the New York area. The rest of the weekend was packed with fun activities and the group truly bonded after this professional yet fun and relaxed trip spent together.

Entrepreneurship Panel

In February of 2019, TAMID at University of Maryland hosted an Entrepreneurship Panel with four panelists working in different fields. The panel provided an excellent opportunity for our TAMID members to network and connect to the broader entrepreneurship and innovation community at school. Additionally, two panelists spoke about their time working in startup companies and their own entrepreneurial experiences. The Entrepreneurship Panel was a success, empowering our members with the knowledge of what successful entrepreneurship looks like in today’s fast paced business and non-profit sectors.
